Where Angels Dare Book 2 - Race For The Lance

Jean, or Cal, learns the survival techniques of the native Americans and discusses Christianity with his new “Merikan” companion who is also searching for his way in the world. Following a three-month perilous journey across the great lakes, Jean and Wabash befriend the amiable Illini tribe in their town of Shicagomish. The Illini agree to take Jean and Wabash to the great city of Chahoka, known as the present-day name of Cahokia along the banks of the Mississippi in present-day Illinois.
After training the peaceful inhabitants on European warfare, Jean (or Cal) leads them in the fight against one of the last giant Ice Age bears who is feeding off the city dwellers. As a reward for his heroic he is honored and allowed to marry a beautiful, yet barren, Cahokian maiden called Maya, and becomes a tribal shaman due to his knowledge gained from a centuries-old life. His good friend, Wabash, had long departed him as he found his love in an Illini warrior woman named Kajagens, “the cat.”
One fateful day, just when Jean is becoming accustomed to the tranquility of the Merikan life, the Cahokians are shocked to see other white men who sound their marauding Viking horns while heading their way with the relentless Andre Riccard at the helm. His well-paid killers launch their merciless attack and once again he tries to rally the timid farmers to do combat with the attackers. When all seems lost, he hears a familiar voice shouting from the rooftops…it is Wabash who has returned with his Illini warriors with Kajagens taking the salient.
